Oreo Bars

Saw a picture of these treats on pinterest.com and couldn’t resist testing them out. These are sickly sweet, even for the biggest Oreo lover of them all.

  • 1 package Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 5 c. marshmallows
  • 4 T. butter or margarine
  • Oreos to garnish

  1. Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch square cake pan or baking dish with parchment paper. Grease with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium-sized pot, melt butter and marshmallows – stir to make sure ingredients are combined. Add crushed Oreos – stir until combined.
  3. Pour the contents into prepared pan. Stick nine whole Oreos evenly in three rows of threes on top of the Oreo mixture. Let cool completely. Cut into 9 even bars. Serve room temperature.

I improvised on this recipe (why use a partial bag of marshmallows??) and used an entire 16-ounce package of marshmallows, six tablespoons of butter and a package of (double stuff) Oreos. I thought these treats could have used more Oreo taste, less marshmallow. Dad thought they were terrific.
