Barbecued Buffalo Chicken


The other day Dad brought home six chicken legs he bought on sale at New Seasons. As he wasn’t here when I made my Garlic Buffalo Wing Sauce, he agreed to having me whip up a batch of sauce to baste on the legs when grilling the chicken legs. This recipe is basically barbecued chicken using buffalo sauce instead of barbecue sauce.



  1. Marinate your chicken legs in a plastic bag filled with half the amount of sauce for a few hours or overnight. When you’re about ready to grill, pull the chicken out of the fridge and let stand at room temperature for about an hour. Remove chicken from the bag and place on plate. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat your gas grill to high heat. Place the chicken on the grill and baste with Garlic Buffalo Sauce. Cover and cook for 12 minutes. Flip the legs over, baste again, cover and cook for 12 more minutes. Flip again, and baste again (if you prefer). Cover and cook until the chicken meat looks like it’s falling off the bone and you could easily pull the meat from the bone with a fork.

Even though the chicken looked like it was falling off the bone, Dad ended up putting it back on the grill. When we tried to pull the meat off the fork, it wasn’t easy to do so. Aside from that small hiccup, this chicken was great. Moist, spicy and the outside was charred to perfection. Our only regret was that we hadn’t made more!
